Change in leadership:
Jean-Louis Hurel to stand down from SARIA Executive Board to become President of RETHMANN France with Arnaud Bécard taking over as new CEO of SARIA France
Long-time executive Jean-Louis Hurel will stand down from his position on the SARIA Executive Board on June 30, 2019. From July 1, 2019, he will serve as President of RETHMANN France, in addition to his role as a member of the Supervisory Board of Transdev. He will also hand over his responsibilities as CEO and Président directeur général (PDG) of SARIA France as of the same date to French senior executive Arnaud Bécard, who joined the SARIA France management team on April 1, 2019.
Jean-Louis Hurel joined the Group in 1996, when he became Finance Director of SARIA France after the RETHMANN Group acquired the rendering activities of French company SANOFI. He had previously held a number of management and executive-level positions, mainly in the logistics and transportation industry. Following his entry into the RETHMANN Group, Jean-Louis Hurel worked tirelessly and successfully on developing SARIA’s business in France to advance the footprint of the company and create the broadly balanced portfolio of activities that SARIA France covers today. In 2003, he was appointed a member of the SARIA Executive Board, a position in which he also continued to pursue and invest in the optimisation of the company’s structure, especially in France.
“I am proud to have been part of the SARIA Group for 23 years and a member of the Executive Board for 16 years. I want to thank my colleagues on the Executive Board for the many years of collaboration, fruitful discussions and many hours of fun and interesting conversations. My thanks also go to the Rethmann family and the rest of the Supervisory Board for putting their trust in me and my abilities for so many years, and for supporting our endeavours as the Executive Board. Furthermore, I would like to thank my highly motivated management team and all the employees in France for their commitment and dedication.
“I have made a lot of good memories over the years and am sure there will be more to come in my new role as President of RETHMANN France and a member of the Supervisory Board of Transdev, in which the RETHMANN Group recently acquired a stake. I am confident that Arnaud, together with the other senior managers at SARIA France, will form a strong team and successfully lead SARIA France into the future and take the business to the next level,” said Jean-Louis Hurel on the occasion of his stepping down.
Arnaud Bécard is the future head and CEO of SARIA France. With a degree in finance and business administration and 25 years of professional management experience in the music, textile and food industries, his previous roles have included serving as CFO and CEO in international business-to-consumer and business-to-business companies. Arnaud Bécard is French, 48 years old and lives near Paris. He is married and has three children.
Asked about his new role and the first few weeks at SARIA, he said: “Outside our industry, the industrial processing of animal by-products is a mostly unknown area of business activity, but one that at the same time has great potential. I look forward to learning even more about it than I already have over the past months. My time at SARIA will most certainly be full of interesting experiences and I hope that I can make a valuable contribution to the development and growth of the company.”
Martin Rethmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, said with regard to these changes in the Group’s top management: “On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, my family and the SARIA Executive Board, I would like to sincerely thank Jean-Louis Hurel for his many years of incredible commitment, loyalty and hard work. His contribution to the development of our business activities, especially in France, has been essential to the continuous growth that has helped us achieve a leading international position in our industry.
“We are therefore delighted that he will remain part of the RETHMANN Group after leaving SARIA, so that we can continue to draw on his advice and extensive expertise in the future. At the same time, I am pleased that Arnaud Bécard is taking on the challenges his new role entails and I wish him all the best and every success.”
