Teeuwissen Group and SARIA Group are extending their partnership. The chief executives of the two groups signed an agreement yesterday by which they strengthen the cooperation that began in 2009. SARIA's stake in Teeuwissen increases to 50%. In addition, they finalized the acquisition of Bioibérica as the first major step of their intensified cooperation. The contracting partners expect the European Commission to grant the necessary approval.

SARIA Bio-Industries, headquartered in Selm, Germany, is a global manufacturer of quality goods for human consumption, animal nutrition, agriculture, aquaculture and industrial applications (www.saria.com). The company focuses on producing high-quality proteins and fats from animal by-products. SARIA is also active in renewable energies and is a significant provider of services to the agriculture and food industries. The SARIA Group employs some 5,000 people in ten European countries.

Teeuwissen Group, located in Cuijk, Netherlands, is a world leader in the collecting, processing and trading of animal by-products from the meat industry (www.teeuwissen.nl). Teeuwissen's quality products are supplied to the pharmaceutical industry, the food and petfood industry and to the casings industry. The group has established a global presence in these business areas through subsidiaries and joint ventures. Teeuwissen employs 3,900 people.

Bioibérica, headquartered in Palafolls, Spain, is a leading international biopharmaceutical company producing high quality ingredients for the pharmaceuticals industry and products for human health, animal nutrition and animal health as well as plant protection and plant growth (www.bioiberica.com). Animal by-products provide the basis for the production of Bioibérica's products. Bioibérica and Teeuwissen have already been working together worldwide for many years through various joint ventures.

When signing the agreement, the management teams highlighted the benefits of the partnership. “The close business ties we already share will be boosted further by this corporate alliance. All three partners benefit from a wealth of knowledge and experience in specific areas relating to processing animal by-products for numerous market segments,” said Kurt Stoffel, Chairman of the Management Board of the SARIA Group.

Jalal Laham, President of the Teeuwissen Group, highlighted the major opportunities arising from the mergers: “At Teeuwissen, we have got to know both Bioibérica and SARIA over a number of years. Our business operations ideally complement each other. But equally important to all of us is that our market development and management philosophies also match perfectly.”

Bioibérica President Francisco Javier Vila and Managing Director José Escaich underlined the major opportunity to “achieve synergies and greatly extend the range and quality of each company’s product and service offerings for customers.”
